# Tessera > Multi-agent coordination layer on top of Git for running concurrent AI coding agents and terminal sessions in the same repository. Tessera (`tes`) does not replace Git. It works on top of your existing Git checkout (`.git/tessera`), isolating every AI agent and terminal session so they can work on independent branches or the same branch simultaneously, running builds and dev servers inside Copy-on-Write branch sandboxes with isolated ports and test databases, and merging concurrent edits structurally at the Tree-sitter AST level. Every commit and merge writes standard Git blobs, trees, and commits directly into `.git/objects/` and `refs/heads/*`. ## Machine-Readable Bundles - [Autonomous Agent Instructions (`/agents.txt`)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/agents.txt): Mandatory 4-step `tes` workflow, safety rules, CLI cheatsheet, and MCP tools for AI coding agents. - [Full Documentation Bundle (`/llms-full.txt`)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/llms-full.txt): Complete Tessera documentation concatenated into a single plain-text Markdown file for LLM context ingestion. ## Getting Started - [Introduction](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/getting-started/): Install `tes`, initialize a repository with `tes init`, and run your first multi-branch workflow. - [Why Tessera?](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/getting-started/why-tessera): How Tessera works on top of Git to eliminate `.git/HEAD` collisions and `git worktree` overhead when running parallel AI agents. - [Installation](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/getting-started/installation): Install on macOS, Linux, Windows, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, or NetBSD, enable `(tes:)` shell prompts (`tes env --install`), and configure AI editor harnesses. - [Your First Workflow](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/getting-started/first-workflow): Walk through parallel feature branches (`feat/pricing` and `feat/faq`), live session inspection (`tes radar`), and 3-way AST merging (`tes merge`). ## Guides - [Guides Overview](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/): Index of step-by-step guides and tutorials. - [Configuration (`tessera.toml`)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/configuration): Customize `trunk_branch`, `base_port`, `port_stride`, `verify_cmd`, `co_author`, `cow_cache_dirs`, `extra_bin_dirs`, `[custom_env]`, and repository trust (`tes config`). - [Editor Support (VS Code & Antigravity IDE)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/ide-extension): Status bar branch switcher, live multi-agent line attribution, 2D Branch Graph, and one-click Conflict Resolver. - [Agents (Multi-Agent Workflow)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/multi-agent-workflow): How AI agents coordinate automatically using `tes claim`, `tes hook post-tool`, `tes exec`, and `tes commit` on the same branch or separate branches. - [Branches & Terminals](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/branches-and-terminals): How per-terminal branches (`tes switch`), per-agent branches (`tes claim --branch`), and the editor working tree (`tes switch --editor`) stay isolated in one folder. - [Sandboxes (Running Tests & Dev Servers)](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/running-tests-and-servers): Copy-on-Write dependency cloning (`node_modules`, `target`, `.venv`, `vendor`) and isolated `PORT` / `DATABASE_URL` slots. - [Conflicts, Checkpoints & Undo](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/guides/conflict-resolution): Resolving true same-line conflicts (`ast-union`, `ours`, `theirs`, `working`), saving checkpoints (`tes checkpoint`), restoring files (`tes restore`), and rolling back operations (`tes undo`). ## Examples - [Examples Overview](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/examples/): Step-by-step multi-agent walkthroughs. - [Same-Branch Editing](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/examples/same-branch): Two agents editing the same function in `src/currency.ts` on `main` and merging automatically via Tree-sitter AST. - [Feature Branches](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/examples/parallel-branches): Building two features on `feat/pricing` and `feat/faq` while modifying `src/App.vue` concurrently, then merging both into `main`. - [Conflict Resolution](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/examples/conflict-resolution): Resolving incompatible edits to the exact same expression in the editor or from the CLI. ## CLI Reference - [CLI Commands Overview](https://tessera.getlunaris.dev/cli/): Complete command table, global flags (`--json`, `-P/--no-pager`, `--paginate`, `-C/--repo`), and MCP server tools (`tes mcp`). -
